A look back History
FST was founded on 1 October 1998. The business idea mainly involved processing high-purity silicon waste and production returns (Wacker, Siltronic) to produce sputtering targets and silicon moulded parts.
Over the course of the years, FST has developed to become a company with a solid standing in the field of machining brittle materials (silicon, glass, ceramics) with diamond tools. In order to maintain a strong position in this market segment, a move to a larger production site became necessary.
Since 2007, our production facility has been located in the “Schwarze Kiefern” industrial park in Halsbrücke. In the course of this expansion, new product groups have been added to the portfolio, such as silicon tubes and boats for the semiconductor industry.
In 2008–2009, the production space and machinery were again significantly expanded, laying the foundation for further growth and diversification in the field of glass, ceramics and silicon.
In response to new market situations and challenges, the years 2015 to 2017 were primarily characterised by further development and optimisation of our production processes – also with regard to foreseeable future developments. And we have invested: In 2016, we added an MB BS 805 horizontal bandsaw to our range of equipment, followed in 2017 by a powerful G&N MPS3-133 TWIN precision surface grinder.
With our successful certification according to DIN ISO 9001:2015 in 2018, we set a clearly visible sign for quality and reliability. At the same time, the purchase of a complex DMG DMF 220 4-axis CNC machining centre that same year created a high degree of additional flexibility and speed, and made sure we were fit for the future – as did the investment in the purchase of an MB TS 207 ID saw and a Dramet BS400FY vertical bandsaw in 2019.
